The MetaScrub desktop application does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information. Period.

When you use MetaScrub to remove metadata from your files:

All processing happens entirely on your computer
Your files never leave your device
No metadata is uploaded to any server or cloud service
We don’t track what files you process or what metadata you remove
No analytics, telemetry, or usage tracking of any kind

The only exception is standard Microsoft Store functionality (see Third-Party Services below).

Website Analytics

This website (metascrub.cdev.llc) uses Google Analytics to help us understand how visitors use the site and improve your experience. Google Analytics collects:

Pages you visit and how long you spend on them
How you found us (referring websites, search terms)
Browser and device information (browser type, screen size, operating system)
General location (country and city level only—not your specific address)

We use this information solely to improve the website content and user experience. We do not combine this website data with any information from the desktop application (because the application doesn’t send us any data).

How We Use Your Information

Since the MetaScrub desktop application doesn’t collect any information, there’s nothing to use.

Desktop Application

The MetaScrub desktop application communicates only with Microsoft services for essential functionality:

License verification: When you launch the app, the Microsoft Store verifies you have a valid license
Application updates: The app checks for updates through Microsoft Store infrastructure

These communications are handled by Microsoft’s systems, not by us. Your files and the metadata you remove are never transmitted to Microsoft, MetaScrub, or any other party.

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your information to outside parties. Since we don’t collect your information in the first place, there’s nothing to sell or share.

Google Analytics processes the website usage data described above. This data is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy. We do not share your information with any other third parties.

Data Security

The MetaScrub desktop application is designed with security in mind:

Local processing only: Your files stay on your computer where you control access
No accounts required: No passwords to manage or account data to protect
Minimal permissions: MetaScrub only accesses files you explicitly select for processing

We cannot access, view, or recover your files or any metadata you’ve removed—because it all stays on your device.

File Access

MetaScrub accesses only the files you explicitly select for metadata removal. The application does not:

Scan your computer for files
Monitor folders or directories
Access files you haven’t specifically opened in the application
Send file lists or directory information to any server

Children’s Privacy

MetaScrub does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. The desktop application processes files locally without collecting personal information from users of any age.
